Early Treatment

Every parent has many questions about their child's dental health. We know it can be challenging trying to understand orthodontic treatment - especially if it s recommended for younger children.

The goals of early treatment are to develop space that allows all permanent teeth (excluding wisdom teeth) to erupt  or correct a function issue (severe overbite or underbite) or correct a shift in the upper or lower jaw which can affect growth.  Dr. Goings recommends early treatment only in specific cases.

Because early treatment is different than what most people have gone through themselves, the consultation process is very important.  Dr. Goings thorougly discusses your child's teeth, growth yet to come, and possible treatment needs.  Parents leave the office full of knowledge about their child's teeth.

Not all children are candidates for early treatment.  If your child is not a candidate, he/she is placed into a growth and observation stage for monitoring.  Usually these appointments are 6 or 12 months apart.

If you do have further questions, please call our office to arrange a complimentary consultation. We hope this information below helps you.
