Retention
When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. We see you in office for a year after your braces have been removed. Even though you aren't being seen by Dr. Goings all the time, it is still important to wear your retainers. Retention philosophies has moved from being short term to being long term - for life. It's a maintanence program for your smile. :)
Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far.
Essix RetainersThe Essix retainer is a transparent removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of teeth. Similar to Invisalign trays, Essix retainers have no wires. They are inexpensive and easier to wear.
Fixed Retainers
The Fixed retainer is glued to the back of your teeth. It is a thin wire that usually is placed from canine to canine. It cannot be seen when you smile or talk. In fact, most people forget it is there.
